Abstract

The nascent African continental free trade zone will accelerate intra-African migration of workers, but currently in Africa, the support and protection of migrant workers is cacophonous and deficient. This failure to support these workers with the benefit of decent work and abandon them on the altar of abuse of all kinds. The supervision of migrant workers is now a reported emergency. The work of supervision necessarily involves the identification of the relevant international legal instruments on which it is based, their ratification by African States, and their control by the labour inspectorate, the public service responsible for the protection of workers, including migrant workers. The CRADAT, a dedicated institution that brings together all the sub-Saharan French-speaking States, can play a central role in the entrenchment of decent work among migrant workers in the eponymous area.
